Principal Responsibilities

This position is required to ensure the highest level of availability, integrity, stability, and functionality of the mission critical statewide SAP enterprise infrastructure. The incumbent in this position must resolve complex problems and issues including system change management, operating systems, production and testing databases and platform specific system security. Must be able to propose strategic solutions for maintaining reliable systems that produce deliverables to the statewide enterprise as required to meet strategic requirements and continue to provide systems access and availability to internal and external customers.

The objectives and required accomplishments of this position are to ensure that work efforts are planned, scheduled, controlled and managed effectively and efficiently and in accordance with agency business strategies and priorities affecting statewide customers; testing of the mission critical application on all technology platforms is high quality and meets the business requirements of statewide customers; and technical support for the environments is available to internal and statewide clients.

Desirable Qualifications

The successful candidate will have an intensive, practical knowledge of Computer Services concepts, practices, procedures, and techniques. Additionally, the candidate must be well versed in the following areas:

  • Knowledge of state organization structure; analytical, interpretive, and organizational abilities; experience in upper management and working effectively with executive management. Skills to development and maintain effective partnerships between the agency and private companies.
  • Experience managing information technology acquisition process; experience with or knowledge of Washington State procurement practices; knowledge of computer industry and personal computer/client-server hardware and software marketplace; project management experience; advanced communications, negotiation, and dispute resolution skills.
  • Principles, methods, and techniques of Information Technology (IT) project planning, management, monitoring, and evaluation.
  • Knowledge of the budgetary processes, including preparing and justifying a budget and operating the budget under organizational and State procedures.

In addition, the successful candidate will exhibit accomplished communications skills, leadership and problem solving skills, be team oriented with excellent interpersonal skills and have analytical, interpretive and organizational abilities.
