Section 903
"Agencies may make use of the Department of Information Services when acquiring information technology services, products, and assets. 'Information technology services' means the acquisition, provisioning, or approval of hardware, software, and purchased or personal services provided by the Department of Information Services. If an information technology enterprise service is provided by the department, or an agency has a specific requirement to acquire hardware, software, or purchased or personal services directly, the agency shall consult with the Department of Information Services."
Section 903 Consultation Process
The Department of Information Services has established a process to implement Section 903. The process includes the following three basic steps:
- Agencies provide DIS with information about upcoming IT needs.
- DIS responds to agencies with product and service information.
- Agencies and DIS consult about products and services.
To start the process, agencies need to complete the consultation form.
Once the form is received, DIS will review the agency needs and respond within two weeks with descriptions of products and services that address those needs. An agency consultation will also be scheduled for DIS to review the products and services. After the consultation DIS will provide the agency with confirmation that the consultation process has been completed.
